The cabin air filter is designed to filter out these particles before they get into your vehicle to keep the air cleaner. The fresher your cabin air filter is, the better the air quality in your vehicle will be.

Replacing a Cabin Air Filter

Since a new cabin air filter is the best way to make sure you’ve got fresh air in your Volkswagen, it’s important to have a new Volkswagen cabin air filter installed every once in a while. As your cabin air filter starts to get dirty, it loses its ability to filter out contaminants plus limits the amount of airflow in your HVAC system. The worse the airflow in your HVAC system is, the harder it’s going to be to get cool or warm air into your vehicle.

How Often Should an Air Filter Be Replaced?

If you want to make sure the air inside your Volkswagen is always clean, you have to change your air filter regularly. While your cabin air filter doesn’t need to be replaced as often as you need your oil changed or new wiper blades installed, but you should still have it checked every time you visit a dealership for service. Your cabin air filter should be replaced at least once every 30,000 miles to ensure proper airflow and filtration. For best results, however, you should replace your cabin air filter once every 20,000 miles or so.
